From Mitral Valve Advances to Cardiometabolic Risk: CAPI Cardiology Summit Explores the Future of Heart Care
September 19, 2026 | Caribe Royale Resort, Orlando
What’s changing in mitral valve intervention? How are physicians approaching lipid management, cardiac imaging and cardiometabolic risk? These questions brought Central Florida physicians together for the 2026 CAPI Cardiology Summit, a morning devoted to the developments shaping cardiovascular care.
The room was full, but the summit’s energy came from more than its attendance. Physicians engaged with speakers, continued discussions between sessions and made new connections with colleagues and Exhibitor Partners. Established CAPI members and new members alike had the opportunity to share perspectives across specialties and practices. Curated by CAPI’s cardiology leadership team, the program moved from structural heart care and prevention to imaging and treatment for complex conditions:
- The Mitral Revolution: Exciting Updates in Mitral Valve Intervention — Deepak P. Vivek, MD
Lipid Guidelines: What’s New and What’s Next — Mohit Gupta, MD
Chronic Edema in Cardiology — Ashish Gupta, MD
Current Trends in Cardiovascular Care — Naveen Bellam, MD
Introduction to AMVUTTRA® (vutrisiran) for the Treatment of ATTR-CM and hATTR-PN in Adults — Kairav Vakil, MD, MBBS
The Role of CCTA and Heartflow in CAD Management — Puja Sitwala, MD
Cardiometabolic Syndrome: Managing Risk Across the Spectrum — Ashish Gupta, MD, PhD
Together, the sessions offered a wide view of cardiology today. Attendees explored approaches to valve disease, considered evolving guidance for managing cardiovascular risk and examined how imaging can inform care for coronary artery disease. The program also made space for discussion of conditions that require collaboration across areas of expertise. Those exchanges carried into breakfast, the program break and lunch. Physicians had time to ask follow-up questions, compare experiences and meet others facing similar clinical challenges. Our Exhibitor Partners added to those conversations by sharing information and building relationships with attendees throughout the summit.
“CAPI is at its best when we bring talented people into one room to learn from each other,” said CAPI President Shveta Gupta. “The Cardiology Summit created that opportunity for our members, our speakers and our partners.”
Thank you to cardiology co-chairs Ashish K. Gupta, MD; Mohit Gupta, MD; and Naveen Bellam, MD for developing the program, and to every speaker and Exhibitor Partner who contributed to the day. Most of all, thank you to the CAPI members and new members whose questions, insights and conversations made the summit such a success.
For nearly 20 years, CAPI has connected medical and dental professionals through education, service and community. The Cardiology Summit was a powerful example of what that network makes possible: relevant learning, meaningful connections and a shared commitment to advancing care in Central Florida.
