CAPI PHILANTHROPY COMMITTEE (CPC) fORMED

The main purpose of this committee is to direct the CAPI executive committee when making extraordinary contributions to the community. The nominated/elected members will serve a two-year term on this committee.  Guidelines and Responsibilities The Executive committee (EC) can make donations to charitable institutions up to a limit of $ 2,500 per charity with maximum limit of $ 5,000 per calendar year. They will still be responsible to inform the General Body via a website posting, meeting or mass emails, whichever is deemed suitable by the President and EC. For a donation between $ 2,500 to 10,000 (maximum $25,000 per calendar year), the CPC will decide the allocation on basis of consensus or majority. CAPI Elections 2017

Dr. Sudhir Bhaskar, past president and Chair of CAPI Nomination Committee sent out emails asking the general body members for nominations to the position of Treasurer and Members-at-large for the year 2017. The elections were held using an online ballot. The members elected to the positions were announced at CAPI’s Winter Gala held on December 3rd at the Rosen Centre Hotel. Health Endowment

As announced at the CAPI Welcomes AAPI Event on June 17, 2015, a new CAPI/ORHS Endowment has been created which will grow in perpetuity.  More than $56,000 have been pledged towards  this Endowment.  As part of the agreement, Orlando Health will honor the outgoing Best Medicine Resident and the Best Surgery Resident annually in the name of CAPI.  CAPI leadership will be invited and cash awards will be given to the above residents starting at $1000 from 2016 onwards.  A portion of the Endowment will also go towards the Anti-Obesity, Stay-Fit Initiative of CAPI whose mission is to promote healthy eating and lifestyle for teenagers and young adults.  A portion of the funds will be available to the Fresh Stop organization locally. CAPI Welcomes AAPI

Yes in a departure from the previous years the summer CAPI event. the event on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 was dedicated to welcoming the AAPI guests attending the annual AAPI convention. All Life and Annual members of CAPI were invited to an extravaganza at the beautiful Dr. Phillips Centre for the Performing Arts in Downtown Orlando. The event comprised of a formal reception, a dinner buffet, drinks, silent auction, fund-raising and fabulous entertainment by Mystic India. The event was attended by close to 500 guests. ...
